## What we are

A volunteer Chinese lion dance and dragon dance troupe and athletic club in Vancouver’s Chinatown. We train in Choy Lee Fut (蔡李佛). We are not a closed private club for bookings — we perform for the public and for private clients across Metro Vancouver and the Lower Mainland.

## What to book us for

- Lunar New Year lion dance (storefronts, schools, hotels, neighbourhood celebrations). Bookings for the coming season are open; January and February fill quickly.
- Choi Cheng / cai qing (採青) grand openings
- Wedding lion dance
- Corporate celebrations and galas
- Community festivals (including Light Up Chinatown! and the Vancouver International Dragon Boat Festival)

Typical volume: well over 80 performances per year; 150+ clients over the past decade. Exclusive performing team for YVR, Parq Vancouver, Light Up Chinatown!, and the Vancouver International Dragon Boat Festival Society.

- Sifu Danny Quon (關立民師父) — Dragon & Lion Dance Director, Chief Dance Instructor (祥龍瑞獅主任); Dai Si-Hing (大師兄). Enrolled at Hon Hsing in 1981; trained in Choy Lee Fut and later lion dance and drumming under Grandmaster Wong Ha. In 2006 he became the first non-Wong voted onto Hon Hsing’s Board of Directors as Director of Lion Dance. Awarded the Queen’s Golden Jubilee Medal (2002) and Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal (2012). - Sifu Raymond Ng (伍耀明師傅) — Senior Martial Arts Instructor (高級武術教練). Teaches Choy Lee Fut at Hon Hsing. Began community volunteering in 1984 at the Lee’s Society of Canada, trained at Wong Ha Athletic Club under 5th Generation Grandmaster Wong Ha, and permanently enrolled at Hon Hsing in 1996. - Darren Jhong (張耀榮師傅) — Assistant Dragon & Lion Dance Director (副祥龍瑞獅主任). Third most senior student; enrolled in 2006. Assistant martial arts and lion dance instructor. Awarded the club’s Master’s Black Sash in December 2013; on 5 March 2017 promoted to Hon Hsing’s Black Sash with Red & Golden Dragon (漢升體育會黑色同紅金龍腰帶, 2nd level).
